Gladiator 2 : the first images have been shown
CinemaCon took place in Las Vegas from April 8 to 11. An important event that allows Hollywood studios to provide details on their upcoming productions and, in some cases, to show images. This was the case of the highly anticipated Gladiator 2. While Ridley Scott’s film will be released in November, those present at the conference were able to find out a 5 minute clip of the feature film. So we can expect a trailer to be revealed soon. But until then we can already have new information about the film thanks to the feedback from different media about this event.
Among the latter, Discuss movies made a detailed summary of the images shown. These would begin with the iconic plan of Gladiator (2000) where the hand of Russell Crowe crosses a wheat field. Then, 24 years after these events, the voice of Paul Mescal was heard evoked Massimo’s legacy“the slave who managed to obtain justice in the arena“. Lucio’s interpreter was accompanied by Denzel Washingtonwho will play his godfather and advise him.
An impressive and bloody battle awaits
But the most surprising thing is elsewhere. The American media then evokes the presence of two emperors with pale complexions and dark circles under their eyes. The latter are played by Fred Hechinger and a blond-haired Joseph Quinn. During the excerpt, in addition to reproducing another mythical gesture with the thumb pointing down, he would have given a crown to Pedro Pascal before a clash at the Colosseum. A fight between Pedro Pascal, an ancient Roman general who refused to send his men to war, and Paul Mescal, in “an even bloodier arena“while gladiators face each other”a three-headed dog, baboons and a giant rhinoceros“.
We already knew that a fight was expected between Paul Mescal and the baboons Gladiator 2. But the use of a three-headed dog and a giant rhino is a real surprise from Ridley Scott. We are obviously curious to see what it will actually be about.
Gladiator 2 will be released in theaters on November 20, 2024.
