Disneyland Paris: the second park changes name
Opened in 2002, the second Disneyland Paris park, until today known as “Walt Disney Studios”, is at the dawn of a new phase. In fact, as announced by the company last April 12, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the park, Walt Disney Studios will soon be called Disney Adventure World. This name change will be effective when the highly anticipated Frozen land called World of Frozen opens.
The park, initially focused on the behind-the-scenes of film, animation and television since it opened 22 years ago, is evolving towards a more immersive experience. With the expansion project started in 2018, the park plans to almost double its surface area, which will allow it to become an all-day destination. In addition to flagship attractions such as Tower of Terror, Crush Coaster, Ratatouille and the Toy Story land, the park will unveil other immersive attractions inspired by the company’s most popular franchises in the years to come.
A huge lake and expected surprises
Adjacent to “World of Frozen,” the park will introduce Adventure Bay, a new 70,000 m³ body of water. This lake is not directly part of the “World of Frozen” land but will play a central role in the overall experience of the renovated park. Around this lake, developed banks and a central promenade will act as a link between the different thematic universes. Adventure Bay will offer spectacular aquatic shows using advanced technologies to animate water with fountains, lights and special effects, enriching the park’s entertainment experience.

“We are evolving the narrative arc of Walt Disney Studios Park. Until now, visitors had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of film shoots. From now on, they will be invited to celebrate the great Disney franchises and embark on an adventure into the heart of immersive worlds. These out-of-the-ordinary worlds will become the central element of the park’s new identity. As they progress through the park, guests will be invited to explore these new worlds and fully participate in adventures drawn directly from our most popular stories.”
said Tom Fitzgerald, Senior Creative Executive of Disneyland Paris and Chief Storytelling Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering.
For her part, Natacha Rafalski, president of Disneyland Paris, added:
“To continue this transformation, which has allowed us to reimagine more than 90 percent of Walt Disney Studios Park since it opened in 2002, we are pleased to unveil a new creative vision that will bring an entirely different look to our second park. Visitors will be able to enjoy a unique experience that celebrates the magic and emotion of our greatest franchises while immersing themselves in new and extraordinary worlds. This creative evolution led us to rename the park, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Disneyland Paris. This name change will be effective starting from the opening of the Snow Queen-inspired country, World of Frozen, representing a symbolic renewal for this new era that promises to be exhilarating. Pushing the boundaries of immersion and innovation, we will create spectacular experiences at Disney Adventure World that will make our guests dream more than ever. These immersive worlds promise to offer our visitors unique adventures, which will perfectly complement the experience offered by Disneyland Park.
An eagerly awaited “new immersive world”
In addition to World of Frozen, a Rapunzel-themed attraction will open soon. Located on an avenue called Adventure Way, described as “a tree-lined central walk with Disney-themed gardens that invite you to daydream,” the Rapunzel Tangled Spin attraction, is a family ride, which will allow visitors to twirl in the center of a setting that pays homage to the film’s famous lantern scene. It will be a spin on the same genre as the famous Alice in Wonderland mugs.

Disneyland Paris also announced a new immersive world “the concept and design of which is currently being defined by the Imagineers”. In recent years, many rumors have emerged regarding the possibilities of this new world, from a land dedicated to the Lion King (the first in the world), to an Avatar land (already present at Walt Disney World in Florida). The company said more details will be released soon.
At the moment we still don’t know the opening date of World of Frozen, although 2025 is more than likely.
