The unmissable Civil war

For this week of April 17th in cinemas there is something for all tastes. But if there is a film not to be missed, it is this one Civil war. Our favorite of the week, Alex Garland’s new film imagines America in the midst of a civil war. The feature film then follows a group of journalists who report on the conflict. The result is an intense and political blockbuster, characterized by excellent performances by Kirsten Dunst and Cailee Spaeny (see our opinion). Check out the trailer below.

Still on the United States side, we also recommend you the detective comedy LaRoy, which takes place in a remote corner of Texas and sees a loser on the verge of suicide mistaken for a hitman. A misunderstanding from which a ferocious Coen brothers-style comedy is born.

Dark films and cheerful anime

In a much darker atmosphere, we find it this week at the cinema film noir Hopelessfrom South Korea. Without being memorable, and ultimately resembling a good number of Korean films of the genre, Hopeless it gets by with the sobriety of the staging, until a brutal ending. In the end perhaps there is more interest in Village, a French drama brought forward by an extraordinary Hafsia Herzi. The latter plays a prison guard in Corsica. The latter meets Saveriu, a young inmate who seems influential and places her under his protection. But once released, Saveriu contacts Melissa again to ask her for a favor…

Otherwise, action movie fans will definitely find what they are looking for Monkey man, Dev Patel’s first production highlighting Indian culture. It’s a shame that his film lacks nervousness and suffers from a script we’ve already seen (see our review). Therefore, to celebrate a little more, we will not fail to report the release of Spy Code for Family: Whitea film derived from an anime that was recently successful on Netflix.
