Netflix: new films to discover this week

While the Cannes Film Festival is in full swing this May, Netflix, like every week, has thought of film enthusiasts by planning cinematic additions that will arouse further curiosity.

And we start off great with the great cinematic piece of the week: The Fabelmansthe last film of the master Steven Spielberg, which will be available on Netflix from May 22nd. This semi-autobiographical, seven-time Oscar-nominated film marks an important personal and professional milestone for Spielberg, providing an intimate look into his early life and the influences that shaped his legendary career as a director.

The feature film tells the story of Sammy Fabelman, a little boy passionate about cinema, whose family life and personal experiences mirror those of Spielberg himself. Through Sammy’s eyes, the film explores the challenges and triumphs of growing up in a complex and loving family, while pursuing a burning passion for film.

The film is set primarily in the 1950s and 1960s, a crucial time for young Sammy, played by Gabriel LaBelle. Michelle Williams and Paul Dano play the roles of Mitzi and Burt Fabelman respectively, Sammy’s parents, who support and influence his artistic path.

Another movie expected on Netflix this week: Atlas with Jennifer Lopez, which will be released online on May 24th. A science fiction film with a budget of 100 million dollars that should appeal to fans of the genre.

A brilliant data analyst, Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez) is misanthropic and totally distrustful of artificial intelligence. As she embarks on a mission to capture a rogue robot, she realizes she’s dealt with this mysterious machine before. When the mission doesn’t go as planned, Atlas has nothing left finally trust AI if it wants to save the future of humanity.

Netflix: new series to discover this week

There’s not much to delve into in terms of new series this week, except for the arrival of the new animated series Jurassic World. After The Cretaceous Colo, Netflix will put its spin-off online on May 24. Baptized Jurassic World: Chaos Theorythis new entry in the Jurassic saga takes place many years after the end of the parent series. The Cretaceous Colony gang reunites to unravel a mystery when its members uncover a global conspiracy that threatens the dinosaurs, but also their very lives. The trailer with many new dinosaurs:

Two anime are also expected on the platform on May 23 and 24: Garoden: The Way of the Lone Wolf AND My Oni.
