starring Chris Pratt, The Terminal List (2022) is the new series of the Amazon Prime Video and follows an ex-military man who, upon returning home, after the entire platoon was killed in an ambush, discovers that it was all a government conspiracy.
The series is based on the book of the same name written by Jack Carr, who was also a naval officer. While it’s not a true story, some elements are quite realistic, but not necessarily true. As is the case with the drug RD4895.
The drug is an important part of the series as it is behind the government conspiracy. In The Terminal List, the drug was created with the hope of helping war veterans combat post-traumatic stress. However, the RD4895 was given to the character’s platoon from Pratt, James Reesewithout their consent.
Instead of helping them by preventing the symptoms of post-traumatic stress, it gave them cancerous tumors. When it became known that the drug was really dangerous, the platoon was killed. However, according to Screen Rantthe RD4895 does not exist in real life and was the invention of the book and the series.
Despite this, there are some similar medications used to combat post-traumatic stress. These drugs are known as beta and alpha blockers and are primarily used to treat high blood pressure, but it has been found that they can also prevent lasting memories of traumatic events from forming and are used to prevent these symptoms.
Like many medications, they also have side effects. These alpha and beta blockers can cause nightmares, headaches, dizziness and even suicidal thoughts in severe cases. Also, it can cause general memory loss. However, formation of cancer and tumors, as in The Terminal Listare not among the common side effects.
