Mission Impossible 8: will this character loved by fans return?

The return of a precious ally?

It is not easy to integrate the IMF team into the saga Mission Impossible, and the actors who have managed to find a place along the way and keep it can’t be counted on the fingers of one hand. There’s Simon Pegg, who’s arrived Mission: Impossible 3 in the skin of Benjamin Dunn and loyal to Ethan Hunt ever since. There was also a wonderful addition to the cast, Rebecca Ferguson from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and until when Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1.

And then there was Jeremy Renner, introduced as the special agent William Brandt In Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and return Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. A character much appreciated by fans of the saga, and who for a certain period could be considered the successor of Ethan Hunt. In the absence of the following two works, without any explanation in the films for this disappearance of the cast, will his character be able to return?

Jeremy Renner ready for return

The actor, acclaimed for his performance in Minesweeper in 2009, he achieved global popularity with his role as Hawk eye in the MCU. Avenger appreciated by fans of the Marvel universe, he consolidates this popularity with the series dedicated to his character in 2019. A character he preferred, rather than that of William Brandt, when he would have reprized this role in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, especially for personal reasons. She explained it like this Collider :

Yes, I had to leave “Mission: Impossible.” I had to do other (films) with them. I love these guys. I love Tom Cruise so much. We had a lot of fun and I really like this character. But it takes a long time, away from home. It all happens in London. I was about to become a father at that time, it couldn’t work…

Jeremy Renner, who recovered from a very serious accident in 2023, does not, however, rule out a return to the saga brought forward by Tom Cruise. Far from it, now back in shape and with a grown daughter, the actor says he is completely available.

Now that my daughter is older, it could happen. I’m ready to come back for Mission: Impossible at any time, like Brandt. He is wonderful.

It’s a big “yes” from the actor. On the other hand, there is no way of knowing whether Tom Cruise and the production of the saga are currently considering this option. But to the extent that the filming of Mission: Impossible 8 it’s not finished yet, it’s not out of the question that the actor could dedicate his time to it. Because in this saga nothing is “impossible”…
