Glen Powell discovers that the cannibal story is a lie: ‘Questioning my whole life’

The Random Killer protagonist accidentally passed off an ancient urban legend as truth in a recent podcast appearance

You may have seen Glen Powell recently in Therapuss Podcast sharing a harrowing story about the time his sister’s friend went out with a cannibalistic man.

You may have watched it and thought, “Hmm, this story about creepy back rubs, black market lotion that breaks the skin for human consumption, and a police raid that uncovers a bunch of bodies seems really ridiculous and fake – but, you know what What? The man telling this is the incredibly hot, charismatic and talented movie star who Hollywood of the 21st century has desperately needed for years. And he sure seems to believe it’s a true story, so…”

Well, obviously it wasn’t a real story, and it seems like Powell – bless you – you just learned that it’s not a real story. On Twitter on Monday night, the 10th, the star of Killer By Chance shared an article from Buzzfeed checking the facts and made the mistake: “Props to my little sister’s friend who told her this dating story…I’ve been telling her this for years. I’m questioning my whole life now…false alarm.”

He then added, for anyone who was worried: “The back rubs are back.” According to Snopesthe story that Powell told is a kind of offshoot of a “year-old urban legend” known as “Romantic Encounter with a Necrophiliac.”

Snopes first reported the story in 2001, and many of these earlier iterations involved a woman going to the doctor for a genital rash and eventually finding out that it had been caused by a type of worm or bacteria commonly found on dead bodies — meaning that the person she was sleeping with was also… well, you get the idea. (The cannibal variation apparently emerged around 2009 and typically involved a spring break date gone horribly wrong.)

As for Powellof all the idiotic “lies” a celebrity can fall for these days, this one is obviously the best – incredibly stupid and completely harmless. Glen Powell remains undefeated.
