Under the Seine 2: is there a sequel to the Netflix film planned? The director makes the point

Under the Seine: Lilith’s return soon?

Impossible to miss the Netflix phenomenon Under the Seine. Since its arrival on the platform on June 5, the French film has broken all audience records (despite very mixed opinions from viewers). Many subscribers are indeed curious to see this shark film set in Paris, with the unexpected arrival of a man-eating shark in the Seine. A speech as aberrant as it is delusional, which ends with an ending that greatly surprised the spectators.

Thus, in the last minutes of the film, after the explosion of hundreds of shells in the Seine, the river floods the capital (for a reason that remains unclear), and the sharks take advantage of this to take over Paris. An ending that could obviously give rise to a second part, which will inevitably cause discussion with Netflix, after the crazy success of the film.

Xavier Gens talks about the future

asked to Under the Seine Of VarietyXavier Gens has specified that for the moment no sequel to his film is planned, but that he expects discussions in this direction to begin soon with Netflix following the enormous success of the feature film around the world.

One thing is certain: he wanted to confide to Variety that if a Under the Seine 2 thus was born, the setting of the film will follow the end of the first part and will take place in a Paris “entirely submerged by water”.

We can therefore imagine that in this second part Sophia (Bérénice Bejo) and Adil (Nassim Lyes) will have to find a solution to evacuate the sharks from Paris and ensure that the Seine returns to its bed. Which obviously won’t be an easy task!
