A film that went unnoticed at the cinema
The peculiarity of this disaster film is that it takes place in the city of Moscow, offering a different perspective from the usual American locations of alien invasion films like the classics independence Day OR War of the Worlds. Filming was also halted for two weeks due to air pollution that paralyzed the city of Moscow in August 2010.
When it was released in French cinemas, The darkest hour it had only attracted 170,000 spectators in three weeks of activity. At the worldwide box office, it grossed approximately $65 million, double its budget.
The apocalyptic feature film did not convince viewers, as demonstrated by its average of only 1.7/5 among our colleagues atAlloCinéwith mixed reviews such as:
Sold as a film about the extraterrestrial invasion in the Vodka version of the War of the Worlds, The Darkest Hour looks much more like the pilot of a TV series than a real feature film intended for the cinema.
A good original idea, nice graphics, but an unfinished and poor plot.
Low end entertainment that will bore you quicker than it entertains.
