The Acolyte : A powerful enemy is revealed in episode 4
Disney+ has launched a new series Star Wars : The Acolyte. A program that takes place well before the films of the saga, in the era of the High Republic. If the general public has certainly never heard of this period, the most involved enthusiasts know some elements of it thanks to the novels. We thus find some characters who are not entirely new to the universe Star Wars, like Jedi Master Vernestra, played for the occasion by Rebecca Henderson. Others are introduced for the first time, such as Oshae and Maetwo twin sisters played by Amandla Stenberg, protagonist of the series together with Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae).
Four episodes have been released on Disney+ so far. A start to the season that allowed us to introduce the main characters and the motivations of Mae, who managed to assassinate two Jedi, and she doesn’t intend to stop there. At least until the end of this episode 4. Because after this the story could be reversed. Mae seemed ready to turn herself in and pay for her crimes. Unless the Sith who manipulated her and forcing her to act this way was a turn ahead.
So, when he takes refuge in Kelnacca, he discovers that the Jedi Master has already been eliminated. Then Master Sol arrives, accompanied by the young Jedi and Oshae who have been chasing Mae for a while. It is at this moment that the famous Sith behind all this decides to show himself. Episode 4 ends on a real cliffhanger while the antagonist has just given a taste of his power…
A Sith already seen in the series Star Wars ?
Waiting for the rest The Acolytethe question everyone is asking is: who is this Sith? With his attire, it is currently impossible to know his true identity. However, several theories have already emerged. The first suggestion from some is that in fact it would be Qimir, the smuggler who helps Mae in her quest for revenge. Behind his appearance as a rather weak and not very astute character, he could actually be a great manipulator. And given that he disappears shortly before these events, at the end of episode 4, this option remains possible, but in our opinion it would be rather disappointing.
The Abeloth hypothesis
Instead, another more interesting theory would be that this Sith is Abelotha creature of the universe Legends. He is an entity that feeds on the dark side and has gained powerful powers through mystical energy sources: the Fountain of Power and the Well of Eternity. Formerly human, she has become a shape-shifting being. But in different representations we can see it with an imposing jaw. It is precisely this atypical dentition that we notice for the first time on the Sith mask The Acolyte, and which makes us think of Abeloth. Furthermore, this entity has already been mentioned on Disney+, in the series Ahsoka.
Finally, there is also the possibility that the Sith of The Acolyte originates from one of the best Star Wars video games: Knights of the Ancient Republic. Mainly because Leslye Headland, the creator of the series, revealed they want to offer a live action version. Proof that he knows and loves this universe. Let’s remember, however, that the game is set several thousand years before The Acolyte, and involves the Sith Darth Malak and Darth Revan. Creating a connection between the series and the video game would not be easy. But if that were the case, it would reflect Leslye Headland’s real ambition.
All this still remains hypothetical and we will have to wait for the next episode of The Acolyteavailable June 26 on Disney+to hope for the beginning of an answer.
