The plot follows Chris Gardner (Will Smith), a sales representative, who struggles to make ends meet. Despite the challenges, Chris draws strength from his son’s love and trust to overcome obstacles and continue moving forward.
The screenplay, written by Steven Conrad, is adapted from Chris Gardner’s memoir published in 2006. Will Smith’s performance was widely praised, earning him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
In search of happiness it was a notable commercial success. The film grossed approx $307 million worldwide, against a production budget estimated at $55 million.
