While Axel’s (Eddie Murphy) daughter Jane (Taylour Page) is acting as a lawyer for a young delinquent involved in a murder case, Billy Rosewood who was investigating the case goes missing. Based in Detroit, Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills to find his friend and solve the case with the help of Jane, as well as Jane’s ex-boyfriend, Inspector Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

An immediate success
Featuring a cast that includes franchise veterans Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot, as well as newcomers including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige and Kevin Bacon, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. seems to have succeeded in his balancing act between nostalgia previous works (especially the first two) and novelty.
