Son of Hollywood stars Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, Jack Quaid has spoken out about how he understands the ‘privilege’ he has of having Hollywood parents
Interpreter of Hughie Campbell in all seasons of The Boys, Jack Quaid It is considered “nepo baby” (English term that refers to celebrities whose parents were successful in the same careers) for being the son of two big stars Hollywood: Dennis Quaid It is Meg Ryan. Now, the actor has revealed how he doesn’t deny the nickname and accepts it.
It is worth remembering how his mother starred in films such as Harry and Sally – When Harry Met Sally (1989), Love Tune (1993), Message for You (1998) and City of Angels (1998), while the father acted in OperationCupid (1998), The day after tomorrow (2004) and Challenge of Destiny(2002).
During a podcast interview The Last Laughproduced by The Daily Beast, Jack Quaid commented how he doesn’t think it’s bad to be called nepo baby. Additionally, he was asked why he doesn’t enjoy starring in romantic comedies.
“It was kind of a conscious decision not to do too much. It just has to be right, because, you know, my mom is the undisputed queen of romantic comedies,” she replied. “So I can’t just step into that space, it has to be right.”
“No matter what I do, people are going to call attention to it. People call me ‘nepo baby,'” he continued. “I’m inclined to agree. I’m an immensely privileged person, I got representation very early, and that’s more than half the battle.”
I knew the door was open to me in a lot of ways, but not to a lot of actors. And I tried to work as hard as I could to prove that I deserved to walk through that door.
Right away, Quaid spoke about the interview in which Meg Ryan defended her son from the label in question: “My first thought was like, she’s being a mother. She’s being a loving mother. But I don’t think she’s trying to say that I’m not a nepo baby. I think she’s just trying to say that in her opinion, it undermines my talent. I don’t think it undermines my talent.”
I know I work hard, and I know I’ve heard ‘no’ a lot more than I’ve heard ‘yes.’ But I also know it’s extremely hard to break into this industry, and it’s been easier for me to do it than most. Both of those things can be true. So no, I don’t think she was trying to say that I’m not a privileged person. She knows. She must know. I think she was being a mother.
