The most beautiful one to dance to is in Netflix’s Top 10
Written and directed by Victoria Bedos, the film The most beautiful thing is going dancing was released in theaters in April 2023. Thanks to recent Netflix deals with French cinema (the platform is committed to allocating part of its annual turnover in France to cinematographic creation), the feature film is already available on Netflix in France, only fifteen months after its release in unknown theaters.
A second chance for this film which had not had a great success at the cinema, with only 100,000 admissions. And it’s off to a good start, since the feature film has already entered the top 10 of the most viewed films on the platform in France (in fifth place as we write these lines).

What’s the movie about ?
The plot of The most beautiful thing is going dancing follows Marie-Luce (Brune Moulin), a reserved and insecure teenager who feels invisible among her high school classmates. She lives with her overprotective father (Philippe Katerine) and a cheerful group of retirees in a boarding house. Since her mother’s death, Marie-Luce has struggled to open up to others and make friends.
At the beginning of the school year, Marie-Luce meets Émile, a charismatic new student, and falls under his spell. She dreams of getting closer to him, but his shyness prevents him from acting. Albert, her eighty-year-old best friend (Pierre Richard), pushes her to take initiatives.
One evening, Marie-Luce learns that Émile will be attending a masquerade party and, although she is not invited, Albert encourages her to go. Inspired by the advice of Albert and the guests at the guesthouse, she chooses to dress up as Don Vito Corleone, the famous character from The Godfather, to feel more secure.
At the party, disguised as a boy and under the name of Léo, Marie-Luce is unrecognizable. Her disguise and her confidence surprise everyone, including Émile, who is intrigued by this mysterious Leo. Marie-Luce discovers that by hiding behind this new identity she can express a side of herself that she had never dared to show.
The ruse works so well that she decides to continue seeing Émile under the guise of Léo. However, maintaining this double life becomes increasingly complicated as her feelings for Émile grow and the risks of being exposed increase. Marie-Luce must navigate between her true self and her alter ego, trying to figure out what she really wants and how to be accepted for who she is.
