He explains it like this:to be confined at home“, not being able to expose themselves to the risk of becoming seriously ill.

It would be very bad for me to get sick, even if it was a cold. (…) If the opportunity arose, I would probably have to direct from home. With Covid we have now invented a way to do it remotely… But I wouldn’t like that very much.

However, if the director of Sailor and Lula and of Mulholland Drive- ex-heavy smokersuffers from emphysema, David Lynch wanted to reassure about his health. Thus crushing all the alarming pessimistic hypotheses that appeared on social networks.

“I will never retire”

It was on X (formerly Twitter) that David Lynch spoke. Clear-headed and determined, he clarified his condition and assured that he was “completely happy“.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Yes, I have emphysema after all these years of smoking. I have to say that I used to enjoy smoking, and I love tobacco – the smell of it, lighting cigarettes, smoking them – but there is a price to pay for this pleasure, and that price for me is emphysema. I stopped smoking over two years ago. I have had a lot of tests recently and the good news is that I am in excellent health, apart from the emphysema. I am completely happy and will never retire.

I want you all to know that I am very touched by your concern.

With love,

David
