Robert Downey Jr. will return to play Iron Man, but not in the way fans expect

The actor will reprise his role as Tony Stark in two new Disney projects about the Avengers, which were announced during the D23 Expo

Five years after the Iron Mansacrifice oneself to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, a 2019 film, Robert Downey Jr. will finally return to live the character, but not in the way that fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expect.

According to Josh D’Amarochairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the actor is involved in two new immersive experiences about the Avengers, which will soon be built at Disneyland parks in Anaheim, California, in the United States.

The experiences are two roller coasters: the first one, named Iron Man: Avengers Infinity Defense (Iron Man: Avengers Infinity Warin free translation), will take visitors on a journey through New York, Asgard and Wakanda in a battle against Thanos.

The second one, Stark Flight Lab (Stark Flight Laboratory), is focused on the character of Iron Man and will place guests in two-person capsules to be sent to a testing station. According to D’Amaroboth experiences will feature appearances by fan-favorite heroes [via Entertainment Weekly].

Robert Downey Jr. debuted as Tony Stark in Iron Mana 2008 film that kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over the course of a decade, the actor played the character in about ten films and will soon return to the franchise, but as the villain Doctor Doomas announced during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
