Alienoid: The Showdown arrives in French cinemas
Korean cinema is now very visible. However, when it comes to blockbusters that bring together millions of viewers in Asian and French theaters, it is rare to discover them on the big screen. Alienoid – Protectors of the Future (2022) is a good example. This blockbuster took two years to be distributed directly to us on video. However, exceptional sessions were organized, to prepare the audience for the second part, Alienoid: The Showdown. This is finally coming out in French theaters on August 28thand it is obviously not to be missed the show offered is generous.

For those who haven’t seen the first work, we discover that the aliens lock their prisoners in the bodies of humans. The Guardian, a powerful robothas the task of intervening if a prisoner tries to escape. He is thus led to travel in time with Thundera machine capable of changing appearance. After an intervention in 1380, Tuono can’t help but recover Ean, an orphan, and bring her back to the present. She will then grow up with them, before being sent back into the past again during a devastating attack on the prisoners.
A fight between yesterday and today
Between past and future, and while we walk from one era to anotherthe diptych Alienoid quickly lost its audience. And despite a quick reminder of events earlier inAlienoid: The Showdowndifficult at the beginning to follow everything perfectly. But in the end, what does it matter? Because this superproduction focuses above all on great spectacle and the mixing of genres. Sure, the first part is a bit talkative, but it doesn’t take long to get carried away this explosive and uninhibited entertainment which has nothing to envy from American productions. Like an impressive fight on a train, which is only the first part of an even crazier finale.
As for the casting, we are happy to find out Ryu Jun-yeol and Kim Tae-riwho play Muruk and Ean, respectively, stuck in 1380. The former ended the previous film by being infected by an alien, while the latter went in search of the ship that could take her back to the present. Although we think we can guess what will happen next, Alienoid: The Showdown never ceases to amaze plot twists concerning these two main characters. But not only that. As proof of director Choi Dong-hoon’s desire to constantly relaunch his plot, even the very secondary protagonists prove decisive for the final confrontation.
