A 2024 edition under the sign of Francophonie

Over the years, the Fiction Festival of La Rochelle It has become the unmissable back-to-school event in terms of French and European creation (in 2023, 15,000 spectators and 2,900 professionals were present). It is indeed a real meeting and sharing place for the entire French and foreign audiovisual community, where creation is celebrated. The Festival is still asserting itself, in this special year of the 19th Francophonie Summitprivileged witness of the dynamism of the Francophonie.

23 unpublished French works They will compete in several formats: nine singles, six sets of 52 minutes, four sets of 26 minutes but also four sets under 20 minutes. Dramatic themes this year the focus will be on the history of France, love stories, life after mourning, domestic violence, casual jobs, suicide among young people and the sexuality of the elderly. Thierry Godard as president of the jury

The Jury will award 11 prizes chaired by the actor Thierry Godard (Gears, Oussekine). He will be accompanied by the actress and director Sonia Rolland (Criminal Tropics, An unexpected fate), by director Stéphanie Pillonca (Handicap, I will follow my dreams), by screenwriter Caroline Franc (Toulouse Lautrec High School), the actor Jérémy Nadeau (Furies), from producer Pauline Gygax (My life as a zucchini, The line) and the composer Bastien Burger (The big ones).

THE new Jury for the European and Francophone Competition will award three prizes among the eight foreign French-speaking fictions (Canada, Belgium, Senegal, Switzerland) and the six European fictions (Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, Spain).

SO Children are kingbased on the novel by Delphine de Vigan, with Géraldine Nakache and Doria Tillier, soon to be broadcast on Disney+which will open the festival.
