During an interview with Vulture, gelman explained how he became a true action star in the season in question. “I felt like Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis or Eddie Murphy,” he stated. “Getting to put my own stamp on this archetype was absolutely thrilling. It was a childhood fantasy coming true before my eyes every second.”

Thanks to a “warning” from the brothers duffercreators of the series Netflixthe actor knew how the character would have a lot more action in Stranger Things 4. So he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter how he started training right away – and spent three months training karate chops as a black belt.

“[Os Duffers] they wanted me to really learn so we could visually justify or sell that I was a black belt because that’s not just doing some karate moves. They needed to be black belt moves,’ she said. “We wanted something funny, but not the kind of funny A Heavy Ninja. It was exhausting and it definitely challenged me physically, without a doubt.”

Brett Gelman enjoyed learning this martial art so much that he started taking taekwondo classes: “For the series, they taught me black belt moves to increase my repertoire and quickly give me a wide range of knowledge.”

They also evaluated what my body could do, which, surprisingly, was a lot. Discovering this was a real thrill!
