Terrifier 3: The Clown is garbage

Terrifier 3: The Clown is garbage

Terrify 3the return of a struggling saga

Before Terrify 2the name Damien Leone meant absolutely nothing to us. Furthermore, without the rumors that moviegoers would be forced out of theaters to vomit during screenings of the film, we probably wouldn’t have had any interest in this horrific saga. But word of mouth worked, and the film was also released in France at the cinema, attracting a niche audience. It was in this context that we discovered this failed film ($250,000 budget). A seemingly ridiculous Z series, but in reality particularly generous and fun. Inside he called an assassin Art the Clown he returns from the dead a year after committing murder in the first Terrorize. This time, he has Sienna and her younger brother in his sights during Halloween.

Trash and uninhibited, Terrify 2 he worked on the delusional side of the antagonist. A mute clown but with a very expressive face, which makes his every appearance more funny than terrifying. Through this burlesque and grand-guignol aspect, Terrifier 2 proved to be an effective entertainment, even if a little too long and with a very secondary plot. An item that has been corrected Terrify 3still so disgustingbut with more reflection on the heroine Siena (Lauren LaVera).

Sienna’s trauma takes a dramatic turn

This is a young woman traumatized by the events of the second work that we discover here. After a stay in a specialized facility, Siena will reunite with her family to spend the Christmas holidays. During most of the Terrify 3she simply chats with her sister or niece while trying to appear sane, despite frightening visions. Damien Leone focuses on the survivor, There last girland takes the opportunity to question the public’s relationship with murder cases, through a student who runs a podcast true crimes and who would dream of being able to discuss the tragedy she experienced with Sienna.

Meanwhile, Art moves away from Siena. But he hasn’t lost his good habits. From the introductory scene, the tone is set with Terrify 3. In this work, the killer attacks everyone, young and old. Before the eyes of a frightened child, the clown kills an entire family with an axe. A scene more shocking in fact than in sight, which is why we question the choice ban the film for children under 18 in French cinemas.

Art, hilarious as a killer Santa Claus

Once again, more than horror, a form of humor emerges from these extreme situations. The same thing happens when Art arrives, dressed as Santa Claus, at a shopping center to bring gifts to children. As we imagine the murder to come, Damien Leone pushes the sentence to the max before confirming the ruthless nature of his antagonist, a real idiot who enjoys causing carnage every time with an innovative method.

Add to that a drinking scene that escalates or a sex scene in the shower during which the blood flows freely. Terrify 3 it is therefore still so gory and enjoyablewhile surprising with its ignoble ending. A final part during which Sienna will finally confront Art, but also with his sidekick Victoria Heyes, victim in the first work, and now possessed antagonist. In these final minutes, Damien Leone sprays himself with liters of hemoglobin and dismembers his characters, before push towards disgust with hungry mice… In short, a visual butchery, which we never tire of and which could very well continue.

Terrify 3 by Damien Leone, in theaters from October 9, 2024. Above is the trailer.
