Alien: RomulusFede Álvarez’s winning bet
Seven years later Alien: Covenant (2017), the horrible saga started by Ridley Scott returned to cinemas this summer Alien: Romulus. This time it was Fede Álvarez who took care of the direction and screenplay (written together with Rodo Sayagues). The director had an interesting idea involving a group of young friends who, hoping to leave their planet, go to an abandoned station to steal some equipment. Inside alone there are dozens of them facehuggers. In addition to these creatures, the heroes will also try to survive against the xenomorphs…

Alien: Romulus was a good proposal by Fede Álvarez who, failing to propose a new visual identity (as James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet had done before him), managed to satisfy the requirements of an Alien film. The result is effective entertainment delivered by a heroine, Rain (Cailee Spaeny)that we would like to find again as soon as possible. Which already seemed very likely given the success of the feature film. Made on a budget of 80 million dollarsAlien: Romulus was largely profitable, grossing over $350 million worldwide.
Rain and Andy will be back soon
Confirmation has just arrived thanks to Steve Asbell, the president of 20th Century Studioswho spoke on the subject in a long interview with The Hollywood journalist.
We are currently working on an idea for the sequel. We haven’t finalized our deal with Fede (Alvarez) yet, but we’re going to make the movie and he has an idea that we’re working on.
Even if the agreement with the directorAlien: Romulus is not yet concluded, the process is already well underway. Additionally, Steve Asbell provided details on what this sequel should offer. That is to say the return of Rain and Andy (David Jonsson)of several xenomorphs (or another type of alien) with always the promise of “superb horror scenes”.
The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were the real highlights of the film. And so I think about it this way and say, “Where do people want to see them go next?” “. We know there will be aliens. We know there will be some cool horror scenes. But I fell in love with both characters and I want to see what their story is.
No indication was given as to when production would begin or even an expected release date. More details may be announced in the coming weeks.
