Interpreter of Seong Gi-hun in Round 6, Lee Jung-jae revealed some details of the second season, which debuts in the catalog of Netflix more than three years after the first phase, which quickly became one of streaming’s biggest hits.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporterthe actor recalled how surprised he was when he received the script for the second year of the production, created and written by Hwang Dong-hyuk. “I didn’t think he would write that fast, I really doubted he could do it,” he said.
“And when I actually read [os roteiros] I thought, ‘This is immaculate, there’s absolutely nothing that needs to be changed.’ It was so well written and I was just blown away by this talent thinking, ‘This man is a genius,'” he continued.
Right away, Jung-jae explained how his character changes drastically between the two seasons of Round 6: “The way you see Gi-hun in the first season and the state in which you see him in the second season are very different.” Finally, he commented how returning to the set with a virtually all new cast was “so strange.”
3rd and final season already confirmed!
In addition to the premiere date for the 2nd season, Netflix also confirmed that the series will have a third and final year, scheduled to premiere in 2025. The news was accompanied by a text from the director, screenwriter and executive producer of Round 6, Hwang Dong-hyuk:
“It’s been almost three years since Season 1 achieved overwhelming success around the world. Since then, many incredible things have happened. And today, I’m pleased to write this letter to announce the season’s premiere date 2 and provide some news about our third and final season”he wrote.
“The day we started shooting season two, I found myself thinking, ‘Wow! I can’t believe I’m back in the world of Round 6‘. For me, it was a somewhat surreal feeling, and I’m curious to know how you will feel about the series’ return after these three years.”continued.
“It’s amazing to see that the seed we planted when creating Round 6 has grown and is bearing fruit by the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure you embark on another incredible journey. I hope you’re prepared for what’s next. Very Thank you and see you soon!”he concluded.
