Ridley Scott returns with Gladiator 2
Twenty-four years later GladiatorRidley Scott delivers the sequel to his iconic film. The feature film focuses this time Luciusson of Lucilla, who follows the path traced by Massimo entering the gladiator arena.
Compared to its predecessor, Gladiator 2 it is therefore focused on a different character. The film also introduces us to new protagonists. Of which Macrinus, a rich and influential man who owns a stable of gladiators in Rome. It is embodied by Denzel Washington. However, he revealed this recentlyone of his scenes had been cut during assembly.
Denzel Washington kissed another man, but the scene was cut
While Gladiator 2 has not yet been released in the United States, its promotion is in full swing. In this context, Denzel Washington gave an interview to Cheerfulness. There he explained having kissed another man during a scene in the film. But the scene in question hasn’t appeared in the film since it was cut while editing :
I kissed a man in the movie but they took it away from me, they cut it, I think they backed out. I guess they weren’t ready for it. I killed him five minutes later. It’s Gladiator. It’s the kiss of death!
In any case, Denzel Washington seems to have found himself at ease in the role of Macrinus. Because among the first reactions to Gladiator 2, many praised the famous actor’s performance. The latter had also confided in him during an interview Empire magazinelast August, that Ridley Scott had it “extremely inspired” for this movie.
One of the actor’s last roles?
During an interview with the Australian version of the show TodayDenzel Washington also explained that he has several upcoming projects: he will first play Othello in the theater, then Hannibal in a film. He may soon have a role in a Steve McQueen film and is expected to appear in it Black Panther 3. Finally, he will play Othello again, this time in a film, and then finish with King Lear. But after that, he plans to retire from acting.
