Sam Mendes’ crazy Beatles project
Sam Mendes is preparing a crazy project. As explained last February, will be interested in the Beatles. But instead of making a single biopic about the Liverpool group, the British director will dedicate them four films! AS, each member of the group will be at the center of one of these feature films.
Last June a major rumor began to circulate about the casting of these films. Four actors have been named to play the members of the Beatles. Harris Dickinson, Charlie Rowe, Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan have been linked to the roles of John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr respectively. However, we now learn that two of these actors are actually set to play some members of the legendary group.
Paul Mescal probably confirmed in the role of Paul McCartney…
Originally, Paul Mescal was supposed to star in Ridley Scott’s next film, a thriller titled The dog stars. During a recent conversation with Christopher Nolan, however, the legendary director explained that he might not ultimately be able to reunite with the one he already directed in Gladiator 2. As reported by The Hollywood journalistRidley Scott said it like this the Irish actor would soon be busy making Beatles films :
Paul has a busy schedule, his next project is that of the Beatles. So I might have to find someone else.
Sony has not yet confirmed Paul Mescal’s casting in the Beatles films. But if we are to believe the words of Ridley Scott, the actor revealed by his role Normal people he will therefore actually play Paul McCartney.
…and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr!
Paul Mescal is not the only actor to have probably been confirmed (albeit unofficially) in the role of one of the members of the Beatles. During an interview with Entertainment tonight last month, Ringo Starr himself has hinted that Barry Keoghan will actually play him in Sam Mendes films. He said he was very enthusiastic about this casting choice:
“I think it’s fantastic. I think he’s somewhere taking drum lessons. »
We are still waiting for confirmation of these two pieces of information from Sony. But it would therefore seem so Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan are in fact linked to Sam Mendes’ ambitious project.
All four Beatles films will be released in theaters. And they will come all the same year in dark rooms: in 2027. Sony has not yet shared the exact release date. In the comments reported by Variety last February, however, the studio promised that the distribution strategy for feature films would be defined “innovative and revolutionary”.
