La Palma : A previous Norwegian hit on Netflix

Before Number 24Netflix had already attracted subscribers with the Norwegian miniseries La Palma. This four-part disaster series follows a Norwegian family on holiday on the island of La Palma, dealing with an impending volcanic eruption. Inspired by real events, especially the volcano eruption Cumbre Vieja in 2021 the series has been praised for its dramatic tension and the quality of its special effects.

Available from 12 December 2024, La Palma It quickly won over the public, ranking high in views on the platform. Critics particularly appreciated the way the series combines family drama and natural disaster.

The success of Number 24 AND La Palma illustrates the growing enthusiasm for Scandinavian productions on streaming platforms. We already remember the immense success of the Norwegian film Troll in 2022, which still holds the top spot for non-English language films most watched of all time on Netflix.
