Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese close to a new collaboration
The collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese is one of the most prolific in the world of cinema. The two men worked together in many iconic films, including New York Gang, Shutter Island AND The Wolf of Wall Street. More recently, they offered us The Assassins of the Flower Moonreleased in 2023 on Netflix. AND they are on their way to finding each other for another project, announced five years ago.
Expiration tells us that Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are now in talks to begin production on the film. The former would play one of the lead roles and the latter would direct an adaptation of Erik Larsson’s best-selling novel entitled The devil in the white city. This was published in 2003 and has sold more than two million copies.
A story about a serial killer
The devil in the white city he is interested to the infamous serial killer HH Holmes. The latter confessed to the murder of 27 people in late 19th century Chicago, although the total number of his victims is unknown.
It takes up the novel by Erik Larsson a myth surrounding HH Holmes. In the book, the killer builds a hotel specifically designed to satisfy his murderous impulsesfull of instruments of torture and death. And he took advantage of the World’s Fair in Chicago to attract many victims.
Leonardo DiCaprio as the assassin?
We still don’t know who Leonardo DiCaprio will play if negotiations with 20th Century Studios are successful for his involvement The devil in the white city. The Hollywood journalist indicates, however, that the actor was already interested in a role in an adaptation of the book in 2010. And at the time, he intended to play HH Holmes. We can therefore think sowill play the serial killer in Martin Scorsese’s potential future film.
By then, the actor will be protagonist of the new film by Paul Thomas Anderson. Titled The Battle of Baktan Crossthe feature film also includes Regina Hall, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti in the cast. It will arrive at the cinema in France on August 6, 2025.
