While the wait has been long, MTV’s Wolf Pack is almost back as the band will be back in the highly anticipated adolescent wolf Paramount + movies. The film will feature most of the OG characters, while also bringing back some of the dead. However, series alum Dylan O’Brien will not be returning, and now creator Jeff Davis is talking about the absence of his character, Stiles.
Dylan O’Brien’s adorable (or lovable) Stiles Stilinski was one half of the fan-favorite “Stydia” duo throughout the series and has become one of the show’s most important characters. Many hoped that O’Brien would reprise the role. Stiles’ famous jeep was included in the initial trailer, but O’Brien later confirmed that he would not be returning for the revival film. Jeff Davis talked about it by speaking with uh at San Diego Comic-Con, and it looks like Stiles’ presence will still be felt somehow:
The movie answers the question of what happened to “Stydia”, so you’ll have to watch it. And Stiles, even though he’s not in the movie, he’s still in the movie. All of these characters leave an influence, so we couldn’t have done it without mentioning it or at least referencing it, but all the other characters are there too. You will see familiar faces.
While it’s downright disappointing that the star doesn’t appear in the film, it’s nice to know that her character will still be honored in some way. It’s understandable given that she was such an important part of the original series. I hope we know she lives a happy life with Lydia, and I’m sure any updates on Holland Roden in the movie, we’re sure to hear some news about Lydia and Stiles’ relationship.
Dylan O’Brien’s decision not to return as Stiles makes sense, as the actor has been pretty busy lately. O’Brien starred in Taylor Swift’s short film for her song “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)”, which also included Strange thingsSadi Sink. We will then see him alongside Zoey Deutch in the film Not Okay, a satirical comedy that will be released in theaters on July 29th.

Shortly thereafter, series lead Tyler Posey shared his excitement over the reprise of the role that made him a star. Posey starred as Scott McCall in the MTV drama for six seasons, before ending with 100 episodes in 2017. However, the series remains relatively popular to this day.

Despite the fact that there will be so many returning faces, I can’t wait to see how the revival addresses Stiles’ absence and what it means for the main characters. And who knows, maybe it will return for a future production. Maybe I can make an appearance in the next one herd of wolves series with Sarah Michelle Gellar?
