After three years, Star Wars series is back in a new format and approaches Rogue One events, preparing us for a bittersweet farewell

acclaimed series of the universe Star Wars, Water It is back in Disney+ and, this time, with a slightly different proposal: instead of traditional weekly episodes, season two will be in three -episode blocks, which form bows with beginning, middle and end, creating a more segmented narrative.

The first three episodes – or the first arc in history, as you prefer – are now available on Disney+ and the expectation is that the second year directs us directly to the well -known events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), preparing us for a bittersweet farewell.

What is the story of Water?

In Waterthe protagonist, Cassian Andor(Diego Luna, The terminal), lives in a dark period of the galaxy. The plot shows the formation of the rebellion against the Galactic Empire and the series plunges into the most political and daily side of the conflict, exploring topics such as oppression, resistance and sacrifice, with a more mature and sober approach than other franchise productions.

If the first few minutes of the season get excited about the return of refined direction, the rich in detail and the photograph being a separate spectacle, the enthusiasm soon cools. Despite the new proposal, of bringing the beginning, middle and end arcs, the first three episodes have a slower pace and seem to be just warming the engines for the rest of the season.

Cassianwhich was once one of the most intense characters in the galaxy, spends much of the time of sauce in a little moving plot. His journey, at this beginning, sounds almost like a deviation – and this disappoints a little, especially from the powerful end of the previous season.

If there is a narrative thread, which really moves these episodes, it is the senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve o’reilly, Tolkien). His presence is always remarkable and his political dilemma is still interesting. In this first arch, she is the one who carries the dramatic weight of the story, while Water It is hostage.

Expectations for the next episodes

It is the impression that the series is saving energy to deliver more in the next blocks. The structure in arcs can justify this slowdown: we are, after all, at the beginning of a new chapter. It is possible – and even likely – that each arc ends with significant deaths and sudden changes.

Despite the most shy beginning, we continue to trust the quality that Water You have proven to have. Is to hope that the rest of the series resumes the breath and reminds us why this series has gained so much space (and hearts) in the universe of Star Wars.
