Charlie Collier, CEO of Fox Entertainment, will deliver the keynote address at this year’s Mipcom, the global television conference taking place in Cannes October 17-20.
At Fox, Collier oversaw such entertainment hits as a masked singer, i can see your voice, domino masters s next level chef. At MIPCOM, he will provide insights into Fox Entertainment’s growth strategy, as well as his views on global industry issues and trends.
Collier’s keynote address on October 17 will kick off Mipcom’s Media Mastermind series, featuring keynote speeches by the world’s top television executives and creatives. The 2022 event will be the first in-person Mipcom in two years – the market only came online as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic – and is expected to get back in shape for the biggest TV industry meeting in the world.
“Mipcom Cannes is definitely coming back in full force for 2022,” said Lucy Smith, director of entertainment at market organizer RX France. “The US studios’ booths are consistent with the pre-pandemic period, and their creative leaders are back on the conference stage. We look forward to welcoming Charlie and learning more about Fox Entertainment’s strategy and future thinking.”
“Mipcom never stops driving the conversation and agenda of our industry,” said Collier. Speaking in French, he said his speech would address “some of the defining questions of our time, sharing the ways Fox Entertainment is adapting its model and forging innovative new partnerships.”
Fox is making the acquisition as it increases its production and distribution capabilities around the world. In 2019, Fox acquired Bento Box Entertainment, the animation company behind Bob’s Burgers; In 2020, it bought the ad-supported streaming service Tubi TV for $440 million; And last year, it entered into a joint agreement with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to create a new production brand, Studio Ramsay Global, to produce and distribute unscripted shows.
Last December, Fox Entertainment acquired MarVista Entertainment, a leading independent film production company for media outlets including Netflix, Lifetime and Hallmark.
