AMC Networks announced on Friday that Christina Spade, who currently serves as the company’s CEO and CFO, has been named CEO effective September 9.
The media and entertainment industry veteran, who previously held senior positions at ViacomCBS, CBS Corp. and Showtime, will succeed Matt Blank, who served as interim CEO last year.
Patrick O’Connell, a former senior executive at CBS Corp. and Goldman Sachs, has been named CEO and CFO of the company and will report to Spade.
“I’m a fan of this company in every way, its content, its brands and most importantly its people and its dynamic and inclusive culture,” said Spade. “Patrick is a highly skilled executive focused on delivering solid financial results with a deep understanding of opportunities in today’s media landscape. I know he will help drive the business forward with his solid financial background, entrepreneurial drive, and collaborative approach. “
Blank said, “It has been a pleasure to lead AMC Networks in this interim role, especially working with Chris and the talented team to help grow the company’s direct-to-consumer business and develop a strong portfolio of high-quality content. Chris is a strong and versatile leader that I know and have worked closely with for over 20 years, and I know he will bring his strong leadership and business skills and passion for this company to his new role.
Meanwhile, AMC Networks President James Dolan praised Blank, saying, “I want to thank Matt for his leadership over the past year and the changes he has brought to the company and better positioned us for our ongoing transformation to broadcast.”
