Disney+ subscribers added to other brand streamings grew in the last two months
With months of development, original productions and new services, streamings from disney outnumbered subscribers Netflix for the first time. As pointed out by the website The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+ gained 14.4 million users in the last two months.
when adding Disney+, hulu and ESPN+services of the same company, the disney has a total of 221 million subscribers. The number is impressive and barely beats the rival’s statistics Netflix – which has 220.7 million according to the July report.
Despite the increase in numbers, the two companies are looking for alternatives to capitalize more. In the United States, the Disney+ announced plan with ads, titled Basic, which will cost US$ 7.99, about R$ 40 at the current price, the same amount currently charged for the basic streaming package. The ad-free version will be called Disney+ Premium and will see a 38% increase, jumping to $10.99.
There is no forecast for the new subscription format to arrive in Brazil.
THE Netflix also plans cheaper subscription, but with less content and ads. The information was confirmed by the co-CEO Ted Sarandos in July (via Tech Everything). Series and productions licensed for the platform will not be available, as the new subscription modality will feature advertisements. These contents will undergo a renegotiation with streaming, to understand which titles will be in the new subscription plan.
