Summer is the perfect time to watch fun action movies and this year has been pretty good. But of all the fighters, the dinosaurs and the bullet trains, do we all agree that there is always room for more vampire movies? Netflix is here to answer the call day shift. I liked the hierarchy and political nuances that occur in the vampire / hunter world. But Day Shift doesn’t spend enough time on all of this and instead relies on little funny jokes and a rushed script. … Franco’s fish out of water character is constantly annoying, to the point that he begins to belittle the film. And that doesn’t make much sense to Bud [Jamie Foxx] being so relentlessly cruel to Seth [Dave Franco] anytime since he’s here, as Seth is the guy who values him and his only chance to return to the Union.
sam stone comic resources says the film is entertaining enough for viewers on hot summer days. While it’s certainly not looking to break new ground, there’s enough gore and comedy and lots of action to make it arguably one of the best Netflix Original movies of the summer. The critic says:
Day Shift is a film that knows exactly what it is, and audiences should know that too; This is not a movie that seeks to change the game of horror cinema, but simply to deliver a bloody thrill ride. If the sight of Snoop Dogg walking around Southern California wearing an apron and cowboy hat wielding a chain gun isn’t a real treat, it’s a film that basks in the exaggerated possibilities of the genre and doesn’t ask for it. especially think about what they are witnessing. Come for the vampire slaying action and stay for Foxx’s hilarious jokes and bonding with his on-screen friends and family.
