A man who was briefly married to Britney Spears was convicted Friday of assault and battery at the pop star’s wedding in June.
Jason Alexander, 40, pleaded no contest to two charges in a California court. A Ventura County judge sentenced him to 64 days, which he has already served in prison.
Prosecutors dropped the charges of criminal harassment and criminal vandalism.
Spears married her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari on June 9 at their home in Thousand Oaks, California in front of several dozen guests including Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Madonna.
Spears’ childhood friend Alexander, whom she married less than three days ago in 2004, appeared uninvited at the house during an Instagram live stream ahead of the ceremony.
According to testimony from the preliminary hearing, he entered the house and walked to Spears’ locked bedroom door while she was inside getting ready for the wedding.
Alexander refused to leave the property, punching a security guard who tried to remove him and damaging a gate, prosecutors said.
After she pleaded guilty, a judge issued a new protective order that prohibited her from coming within 100 meters of Spears or a security guard.
Alexander’s attorney, Sandra Bisinian, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. He previously said in court that there was no evidence he intended to harm Spears.
Spears’ attorney declined to comment.
