The band, formed by Três Irmãos do Mexico, is breaking barriers with new sounds and a lot of emotion
It is early August, and the Latin Mafia just left the stage of Lollapalooza. Even resting on a nearby cafeteria, they are still completely electrified. It is hard to turn off this pure adrenaline; They spent the whole show doing crowd-surfing on fans screaming and provoking wheels of pogo while playing exciting songs from their genres break album, All all the dashe di día. The Mexican band, formed by the three brothers de la rosastill feels all this energy as they exchange ideas and complete each other’s thoughts – living projectiles full of excitement.
“We are part of a generation that may not be used to pogo and crowd-surface wheels at shows, so for us, it is about reliving these kinds of moments in our shows,” he says EMILIO DE LA ROSA. Your twin, Miltonadds: “Our shows are so energetic that they become physical. It’s like a 4D show where you can touch us, and what we are feeling is tangible.”
Emilio and Milton They are both vocalists, and their older brother, Mikeis the producer of the band. They have become complete stars that also embrace emotion in their songs. “We are not afraid to allow ourselves to feel everything,” he says Milton.
This is probably what makes your music so radical: it subvert genre and sound, being shaped by what they are experiencing. All all the dashe di díalaunched last October, reflected the siblings’ encounters with the fame and the pressure, frustrations and anxieties that were passing. This explosion of emotions erupts in “I think that it merezco more”where R&B, EDM, Rock and Flamenco collide. The cathartic album came after its nomination for Best new artist node Latin Grammy last year. Rosalia, Karol G, Feid and Rauw Alejandrowho summoned them to “2:12 am”they also declared themselves fans of the Latin Mafia. All of this is inspiring a new album, expected soon. “We are in the process of living new things and enjoying the journey to feel inspired by the next album,” he shares Milton.
Growing in Mexico City, the Latin Mafia It reflects a generation of musicians who started creating music on their laptops at home. During the pandemic, the brothers spent time sharing their process of musical creation in the Tiktokwhich earned them a great engagement. No record label or album, the Latin Mafia soon exhausted concert tickets in Mexico and performed at Coachella with the impetus of their viral hits as the success reggaeton “Julietota” and “Ahogado Padtados”with participation of Humbe.
Part of what attracts fervent fans to Latin Mafia It is an intimate emotional connection. They combine their wild, boundless shows with a real and sincere outburst. The guys share their heavier moments with fans. During a show at the Mexico City Palacio de Los Deportes in July, they cried by revealing that their grandmother had just died. The guys paid tribute to her with “Tengo Mucho Ruido”which includes an audio of it. “She will be in the hearts of our fans because we include them,” he says Emilio.
This crude honesty made them not afraid to manifest themselves through the Mexican community in the face of the inhuman immigration policies of the government Trump. After the president’s executive order to change the name of Mexico’s Gulf, the trio used T -shirts El Gulf of Mexico of PATRICIO CAMPILLO During a show. “It is necessary for those with a platform to raise their voices for the people being silenced. This was a form of protest for us.” At festivals, the band made a point of bringing a Mexican flag and shaking it loudly.
Most importantly, the band wants to represent where it comes from. “We want to put Mexico at the top,” he says Mike.
