Band Maskavo celebrates 25 years and announces international tour

With more than two decades of history, the group guarantees the public a journey through time in new shows

Positivity, spirituality, love and hope. This is the message of Maskavoa reggae band that celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

In a celebratory mood, Maskavo will undertake its first tour of Europe in October 2025. The group promises to channel a nostalgic atmosphere throughout four performances on international territory.

In addition to revisiting hits that marked different generations and continue to be among the most played on playlists — such as “An Angel from Heaven”, “Wings“, “The Sea to My Garden” and “Dried Leaves” —, the concert repertoire includes covers by internationally acclaimed musicians, from Gilberto Gil until Bob Marley and Almir Sater. “We are preparing re-recordings and new versions of the classics, and we still have surprises for the fans”, comments the guitarist Silver to the press.

The schedule is an intense week. In Portugal, there are two dates: Sunday, October 23rd, in Lisbon (at Casa Capitão), and Tuesday, 25th, in Porto (Barracuda Rock Club). In Spain, they will perform in Barcelona on Saturday, 29th (Jamboree Live Music) and in Madrid on Sunday, 30th (Grotta 77 space). “It will be an opportunity to celebrate our trajectory with new audiences”, he says Silver.

The singer and songwriter from Rio Mar.iana will open the shows. Combining pop and Brazilianism, the artist performed at Rock in Rio Lisboa 2022 and released her first album, LOVEin 2023 – which contains a composition by Nando Reis – followed by Oceanin 2025.

The Story of Maskavo

Initially named “Maskavo Roots”, the group began its history in Brasília, in 1993. In the 1990s, the band released the albums Maskavo Roots, Melody I Know and If you don’t fight, why did you come??.

The year 2000 was a turning point, because there was a change of vocalist: Marcelo Vourakis announced his departure and Marceleza – young man who led a cover band of Bob Marley – came in to replace him. During this period, the musicians moved to São Paulo, and consolidated the formation of the band under the official name, Maskavo.

Since then, they have gained national prominence, especially with the release of Already. The album contains hits like “An Angel from Heaven“, a symbol of Brazilian raggae. The complete discography already totals 11 albums and EPs, which offer a vibrant and plural sound to the listener: the band mixes the roots of reggae with elements of pop and MPB.

Today, five members keep the history and good vibes of Maskavo. On the guitar since the beginning of 1993, he is Silver; in voice since 1999, Marceleza; and on the keyboard since 2005, Felipe Passos. Vini Gomes (battery) and Alexandre Santos (bass) are from São Bernardo do Campo–SP, and joined the band recently.

“We have the best energy for this new phase. Taking our music and our vibe to Europe is a dream come true”, he celebrates Marceleza. “We want each show to be an exchange of love and music, with the public singing along as has always happened in Brazil.”
