The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards air on Sunday night.
Going to the show, Doja the Cat, Harry Styles and Jack Harlow lead the nominees with eight nominations. Winners are nominated by fans.
The show was opened by artist Jack Harlow, followed by a performance by Lizo.
Instead of the traditional presenter, this year’s ceremony will feature three MCs: LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. MTV said the trio will announce the list of the show’s artists, presenters and winners, as well as taking a “more innovative and unique approach” to the traditional performance show.
Minaj will also receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will receive the Global Icon Award on the show, which will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ at 8pm ET/PT.
Minaj and the Chili Peppers will also perform at the show, along with other artists including Kane Brown, who will make history as the first male country artist to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The list of nominees for the 2022 MTV VMAs will be updated once the winners are announced. Catch up on the latest and see photos of the red carpet arrivals here.
