the hollywood reporter The nominees, who will be featured at the Primetime Emmy on September 12, and their representatives received a notice from the Television Academy on Friday that they can submit their names and thank you messages in advance, EXCLUSIVELY verified. Up to 350 characters: they will appear on the screen in case of victory.

“We want to make sure you can speak from your heart and not feel pressured to remember all these greats when you’re in the spotlight giving your acceptance speech,” the letter read in part. “So… this year we’re going to do something different. During your speech, we will graphically list the names of your loved ones, executives, agents, etc. All you have to do is type your thanks in the link below and hit submit.”

Nominees are under no obligation to use this alternative method of thanks, and it appears that many still choose to verbally express their gratitude to family, friends, and colleagues.
