The Weeknd was forced to interrupt a concert at a Los Angeles stadium after losing his voice

Just a few songs into the second of his two sold-out sets at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday night, The Weeknd lost his voice and hung up.

The Weeknd was in the middle of “Can’t Feel My Face” when he lost his voice, stopped and took the stage to tell the crowd, “I can’t give you the show I want to give you. I’ll make sure everyone is okay. I’ll pay you back and do a show for you soon, but I wanted to go out and apologize in person and not write this or Instagram. I wanted you to know. I can’t give you what I want to give you. I’m sorry. I’m sorry”.

The visibly upset superstar took the stage as the crowd cheered before adding, “You know how much this is killing me.” I love you. Thank you so much.”

Shortly after leaving the stage, he followed up with a post on Twitter, saying, “My voice dropped during the first song and I’m devastated. I felt him leave and it broke my heart.” Then again, he promised to come back with a new date.

Fans left SoFi Stadium in relatively high spirits, singing The Weeknd’s 2021 Billboard Hot 100 number one “Save Your Tears” in unison.

The Weeknd was originally scheduled to hit the road again in January 2022 after postponing his 2020 tour to 2021 and then postponing it again due to the pandemic, but the artist later moved his 2022 tour to move the show to stadiums.

The stadium tour got off to a rocky start when it started in July. The opening date in his hometown of Toronto on July 8 was postponed due to an outage in Rogers’ wireless network. However, the 18-date tour went well until Saturday, the last night of the race. The tour will now continue through Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
