Daniel LaRusso’s “Rock Bottom” Originates in Confrontation With Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith)

One of the most popular series on Netflix currently, Snake Kai is a continuation of the iconic Karate Kid – The Moment of Truth (1984), directed by John G. Avildsen. The fifth season premiered this Friday, 9th, and shows Daniel LaRussoplayed by Ralph Macchioat “rock bottom.”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Macchio talked a little about the character arc in the new phase of the series. He suggested that the emotional reaction of Daniel The Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) will affect his relationships with other characters.

“For me, it’s the biggest arc I’ve had in the entire series because, you know, Daniel is the only one who really knows the insanity of Terry Silver,” said the actor. “So he ends up looking crazy and loses control of everything in his life to a point where he has to hit rock bottom and then find his balance again. It’s exciting. The second half of the season really starts to build and build for the fandom.”

Snake Kai is not starring Ralph Macchioprotagonist of the original film, but for William Zabkavillain interpreter Johnny Lawrence. in the series, Johnny seeks to give new meaning to his life and opens the dojo Snake Kai. With that, he reignites the old rivalry with Daniel LaRusso.

It’s fun, you expand the universe. You have new characters and with new characters, new perspectives, new settings, and that brings the modern element to the show.

Schlossberg he also said that he was able to explore different types of characters without the series forgetting its roots, which it wouldn’t be able to do in a movie.

The filmmaker also commented that they got to watch the movie again, to always keep in mind why they love martial arts movies. He further explains that the series worked on a global level, as they tell universal stories.

Different cultures meeting, people you wouldn’t expect to connect with. So we try to focus on that, while taking advantage of different characters, genres, backgrounds and interpreting things to make it look like the Karate Kid, but it’s something entirely different.
