Amp, a live audio and radio app from Amazon, has launched a group of creators that provide selected users with monthly payments based on the show’s performance.
To qualify for payments, creators must host at least one live stream per month. In a Wednesday blog post announcing the fund, Amp will assess the show’s performance based on factors such as “listener engagement and performance metrics such as showing popularity with new and repeat listeners.”
The announcement was made by Amp spokesperson. the hollywood reporter that “millions of dollars have been set aside to reward the creators of Amps”, but no specific amount has been specified for the total pool of creators. The company also did not disclose the range of payments creators can receive through the fund.
“Pool size for each creator is dynamic and based on different factors each month. These factors may change from month to month as the app continues to scale, and the amount of Amp rewards for creators may change as well,” the spokesperson said.
The fund follows similar efforts by companies like TikTok, Snap and Meta. Spotify also experimented with a fund for its live audio creators, but ended up closing the fund after rebranding.
As Amazon’s Amp makes its way into the live audio space, the app recently announced a list of Formula 1-related live programming featuring presenters such as Will Arnett, The Kid Mero and Michelle Beadle.
