Angela Lansburyone of the most beloved and acclaimed actresses in theater, film and television, passed away today at her home in Los Angeles just days after her 97th birthday.
The sad announcement was made by the family through a press release which we report below:
“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are saddened to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Los Angeles at 1.30am today, Tuesday 11 October 2022, just five days before her 97th birthday.“.
Her passing was preceded by the death of her husband of 53 years, Peter Shaw. In addition to her children Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, along with five other great-grandchildren and brother renowned producer Edgar Lansbury.
With more than 80 years of acting under her belt, Angela Brigid Lansbury has enjoyed one of the longest and most distinguished careers in Hollywood and Broadway history. Born in London on October 16, 1925, he immigrated to the United States in 1940 and then moved to Hollywood just two years later.
