Netflix launches subscription with advertising also in Italy: Here is the price, date and what changes

After many rumors chasing each other in recent months, Netflix announced a few hours ago the launch of the subscription with advertising also in Italy.

The package, renamed “Based on advertising” will be available on the streaming platform from Thursday November 3, 2022 at 17 in the amount of € 5.49 per month. It’s a cheaper plan than Netflix designed for those who want to enjoy all – or almost all – the contents of the streaming giant at a lower price.

Below is the full press release issued by Netflix with all the specific details of this new subscription:

We are pleased to announce the November launch of Based on advertisingthe cheapest Netflix plan with ad breaks included.

  • Unmissable entertainment at an unbeatable price: Based on advertising it costs only 5.49 euros per month in Italy and will be available from 3 November at 5pm.
  • Available in 12 countries: Based on advertising will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Korea, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom, Spain and United States.
  • A plan for every fan: Nothing will change for our existing plans and our existing subscribers. Based on advertising it adds to our plans Base, Standard And Premiumno advertising.

Plan Based on advertising offers all the features that users expect from the plan Base of Netflix, with some differences.

  • What remains unchanged: a wide variety of high-quality television programs and movies; personalized viewing experience; usability on a wide range of televisions and mobile devices; possibility to change or cancel the plan at any time.
  • What changes: video quality up to 720p / HD (now for both plans Based on advertising same for the plan Base); an average of 4-5 minutes of commercial breaks per hour; a limited number of movies and TV shows will not be available due to licensing restrictions (but we’re working on that); no possibility to download titles.

In other words, the plan Based on advertising it’s everything we love about Netflix, offered at a cheaper price and with few ad breaks. It will be easy to subscribe: visit Netflix.com and register by providing email, date of birth and gender.

Based on advertising It also represents an incredible opportunity for advertisers: the ability to reach diverse audiences, including younger viewers who no longer watch linear TV, in an optimal environment with flawless, high-resolution ad serving experience .

  • Advertising format: at launch, commercials will run for 15 or 30 seconds and will be placed before and during series and movies.
  • Controls for advertisers: to help advertisers reach the right audience and ensure that advertisements are more relevant to consumers, we will offer extensive possibilities for targeting by country and content genre (action, drama, romance , science fiction…). Advertisers can also prevent their advertisements from appearing on content that may be inconsistent with their brand (eg sex, nudity or violent imagery).
  • Verification tools: we partnered DoubleVerify And Integral Ad Science to check the traffic visibility and validity of our advertisements starting from the 1st quarter of 2023.

Based on advertising comes just six months after the first announcement of a plan with ad breaks at a cheaper price. All of this would not be possible without the hard work of our team and extraordinary partnership with Microsoft. The transition from linear TV is happening at an ever-increasing rate e streaming has overtaken cable and over-the-air broadcasts in the United States. With Netflix starting at € 5.49 per month, we are confident that we can offer a price and plan for all fans. While we’re still in the early stages, we’re happy with the interest we’ve seen so far from consumers and advertisers, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. Based on what we learn from this experience, we plan to extend the offer to other countries.
