On the occasion of Silent Hill Transmission, Konami announced Return to Silent Hill, a new live-action film dedicated to the beloved videogame series. The film, based on Silent Hill 2will be directed by Christopher Gansformer director of the 2006 film, and remade by Victor Hadida. Return to Silent Hill will present a plot similar to that of Silent Hill 2, where a man goes to Silent Hill to find his wife, who has now been dead for several years. Instead, find endless nightmares and monsters, including the infamous Pyramid Headone of the most recognizable and popular characters in the series.

According to what was declared by Rui Naitohead of Konami’s IP and cross-media development for Silent Hill, both the remake of the second game and the film were born from an idea by Victor Hadidaone of the producers of the Silent Hill film in 2006. Hadida proposed to him and the director Christopher Gans which returned to their collaboration, which was a box office success of the first film. The producer presented a plot and a script defined as incredible, which managed to convince the Japanese company to make a new film, accompanying it with remake of Silent Hill 2.

Return to Silent Hill this is Gans’ second foray into the Silent Hill universe after directing the first underrated film adaptation of the franchise. After the 2006 film, the series received a second adaptation, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D 2012, directed by MJ Bassett (Ash vs. the Evil Dead), which was received negatively by audiences and critics and brought the cinematic series to a halt.
