In an interview with The Sunday Times, Shania Twain spoke about her traumatic childhood – and how society represses women
Owner of hits like “Man! (I Feel Like a Woman)🇧🇷You’re Still the One” and “Any Man of Mine🇧🇷 Shania Twain revealed how she had a very traumatic childhood, and needed to “flatten” her own breasts to escape abuse from her stepfather and not call attention to him.
The iconic singer’s stepfather and mother died in 1987 as a result of a car accident. During an interview with The Sunday Times🇧🇷 Twain recalled the problems he went through when he was young and how society only represses women.

“I would hide and flatten my breasts. I would wear bras that were too small for me, and I would wear two at once until there was nothing ‘girl’ left in me,” she said. “Because, my God, it was terrible. You wouldn’t want to be a girl in my house.”
“You go into society and, as a girl, you start getting other ‘normal’ nasty things too, and that was a reinforcement,” she continued. Shania Twain in the conversation. “Then you start thinking, ‘Oh, I guess it just sucks to be a girl,’ ‘Oh, it sucks to have breasts.’ I was ashamed to be a girl.”
