The line from ‘Wandinha’ that Jenna Ortega refused to record

Jenna Ortega skipped episode four of season one because she felt it would “humanize” her character

One of the recognized successes of Wandinhanew series by Netflix, was the tone given to the character that names the production. the daughter of gomez and Morticia Addams was very well performed by Jenna Ortega – who even felt free to even change a line in the script.

In a question and answer session promoted by the streaming platform (via Subway), ortega admitted to omitting a line from the fourth episode of the show’s first season. It is, moreover, the same chapter in which Wandinha does the dance to the sound of “goo goo muck” (The Cramps) which went viral on social media.

In the opening moments of the episode, she sees a dress in a store window and likes it so much that Little hand (Victor Dorobantu) steals it. The character was supposed to say “oh my god I’m freaking out over a dress, I literally hate myself”. Although, Jenna preferred to remove the line, as he did not want the character to be humanized.

“I was blown away as it was just a bunch of little things like that. I felt like we were able to avoid a lot of dialogue in an attempt to make her sound human.”

Different visions for Wandinha

It’s not the first time Jenna Ortega reveals to have a different thought of those responsible for Wandinha. In a recent interview with Etalkthe actress took a stand against the creation of a love triangle with tyler (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier (Percy Hynes White).

“As far as the boys are concerned, I just had to accept what the writers wanted. Honestly, I’ve always been and always will be against this love triangle thing, because I always try to protect the character. I think that Wandinha I would never get involved in a love triangle.”

In another statement to the press, this time to MTV News(via Omelet), Jenna revealed how he wants to see a platonic relationship, without any kind of romantic interest, between Wandinha and Xavier.

“I don’t think it gets shown enough: men and women having secure friendships that don’t become romantic, that are just genuine, like siblings. It would be wonderful to see.”

Something that has not even been presented yet, as it would only be addressed in the second season, is the chance to Wandinha become a “good” character. To Entertainment Tonight, ortega has already revealed that he disagrees with this possibility.

“I want her to be more obscure, to be more in the nitty-gritty of things and not take too much of a safe path. There’s a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever it is, but for me her main thrust with the monster was kind of competitiveness, like ‘how is this guy doing this and why can’t I?’ I think I want to continue in an antiheroic flow instead of turning her into a typical heroine.”
