The announcement marked Amazon Prime Video’s fifth anniversary in the Indian market, with the company saying it would “double” its investment in Indian content over the next half-decade.

Amazon has also signed content licensing deals with major Indian manufacturers including Ajay Devgn FFilms, Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment and Yash Raj Films.

In a side announcement, Amazon said it would increase its video offerings in India by adding a movie rental service on the Indian platform, Prime Video Store, with its Transaction Video Request (TVOD).
