Demand for Broadway Vaccines for Actors Remains Until June

Vaccination requirements for Broadway actors remain until at least June 2022 as part of updated COVID-19 safety protocols. Issued Wednesday to industry insiders.

After changing safety protocols for several theaters, Actors’ Equity and the Broadway League, the trade association for theater owners and producers, left the vaccination requirement unchanged for stage managers and actors working in theaters. This policy has been in effect since July 2021, when it was mandatory before Broadway reopened.

There are possible exemptions for people who are not vaccinated due to disability or outright religious beliefs.

The current agreement, which includes a mandatory vaccination mandate by the employer, will be valid until June 26, 2022, after which the protocols will be reassessed, according to a statement sent to the members of the Actors’ Heritage.

This comes after Broadway announced it would drop the vaccination requirement in most theaters after April 30th. Theater goers must continue to wear masks at the theater until at least May 31.

The Broadway League did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
