The Grammy-winning duo, singer Naomi Judd and Kentucky-born Winona, and mother Ashley Judd passed away Saturday. He was 76 years old.
The daughters announced his death in a statement to the Associated Press.
“Today we sisters are experiencing a tragedy. “We have lost our beautiful mother to mental illness,” the statement said. “We are crushed. We are deeply saddened and know that as much as we love him, he loved his community. We are in uncharted territory.” No further details were provided in the statement.
Publicist Scott Adkins said he died outside of Nashville.
