The NYC Subway Plays Such a Big Role in Netflix Season 2 Russian doll That Natasha Lyon and her co-creators need to find the perfect voice for the MTA. Traveling back in time this season (6 trains serve as a gateway to the past), only diligent spectators will name train dispatcher Rosie O’Donnell.
“Memory [Russian Doll co-creator] Amy Pohler said we definitely need a cult New York voice, and Rosie is perfect. We played to change her voice at different points. “It’s pretty cool,” said Lyon, who wrote that the director, executive producer and showman were back in the sci-fi gem, setting his title character on past excursions to change his upbringing.
The season, filmed in New York and Budapest, spent so much time on the subway that the cast and crew walked through the tunnels and received safety lessons from MTA officials. Lyon and O’Donnell, who never appear on screen, have been friends since they starred in Nora Efron in 2008. Love, loss and what I wear.
“We did this play together for months and months and became friends there. We would also have a game of poker with Tyne Dali. We’ve been in touch ever since.”
And it was thanks to this abbreviation that Lyons, who made COVID-era products, was able to record the O’Donnell strings via voice memo. “He was very generous, he kept sending me so many options. “When I changed the line, even in the mix, he was doing everything and it’s a lot of fun,” he said.
