Carrie Underwood, Andy Cohen and others remember Naomi Judd: “Country music has lost a true legend”

Naomi Judd died Saturday outside of Nashville and the news of her death saddened the country music community.

Judy, mother of Winona and Ashley Judd and wife of Larry Strickland, was a singer for mother-daughter duo The Judds, which is due to enter the country’s music hall on Sunday. Judas has the highest number 1 advertising panelHot Country Songs chart among duos/girl groups and the second highest number on the Hot Country Songs chart among all duos.

Her daughters told the Associated Press that they “lost our beautiful mother to mental illness.” Judd’s family demanded confidentiality on Saturday and said no further information about his death was planned at this time.

“Country music has lost a true legend… Sing with the angels Naomi!!!” Kerry Underwood wrote on Twitter. “Today we all send prayers for the Jadi family.”

“Rest in peace, Naomi Jadd,” said Maren Morris. “I’m honored to have seen ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ a few weeks ago.”

“I had the honor of meeting Naomi Judd years ago and she was incredibly kind. During that time, he sent love and prayers to Winona, Ashley, and the entire Jadi family. “I never thought this would go away,” Kristin Chenovet wrote on Twitter.

“Naomi Judd,” writes Cole Swindel. “It is very sad to receive this news. Everyone thinks of their family and friends. A tough day for country music.”

“This is a heartbreaking story! Naomi Judd was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. I had the honor of working with him on films and at many musical events. I express my deepest condolences to his family,” said Travis Trit.

“I am so saddened by the loss of my friend and music legend Naomi Jad,” wrote Billy Ray Cyrus. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. As a Kentucky academic, my hats are in honor of the musical legacy he shared with the world and the doors he opened for many others like me.
